Another Tough Day Outside the Octagon
Friday, September 5th
Sometimes the average day of a UFC fighter is
not so average. Jay Day was fortunate to be
invited to represent the UFC and MMA in general
at the 2008 edition of the Toronto International
Film Festival. It was Jay’s first time to
Toronto and first opportunity to witness the
spectacle that is TIFF. Yorkville and Toronto
was abuzz with excitement. Friday night was
spent commingling with festival and fight fans
alike at Brant House. The event was intended to
celebrate with Kevin Dillon the fall start of
the hit series Entourage. The night was one for
the memoirs. Also, it wouldn’t be a September
weekend without the latest UFC pay per view. Jay
was excited to host the Liddell-Evans headlined
event at the unique Diesel Playhouse. As usual,
the loyal UFC crowd roared their approval,
especially when Jay bitter-sweetly announced
that fellow Canadian Jason MacDonald secured a
submission victory over Jay’s pre-injury
combatant Jason Lambert. The weekend was fast
paced and full of memorable instances, not the
least of which was being repeatedly recognized
and introduced as UFC fighter Jason “Dooms” Day.
The competitive itch is definitely back. Look
forward to a hopeful fight early on the UFC’s
2009 calendar. In the meantime, just another
weekend outside the Octagon.
